Reliable and fast WiFi networks are becoming available in more locations today.
Atlas Ocean Voyages’ World Traveller and World Navigator shops will soon join its soon-to-launch World Voyager yacht as key points of differentiation from rival travel services.
Today, the company made an announcement revealing they are strengthening onboard connectivity through a partnership with Starlink Internet Service Provider.
Atlas Ocean Voyages recently made headlines when they announced they will provide guests with one gigabyte (GB) of their new high-speed Wi-Fi on all expeditions for free – an important consideration given how pricey internet plans onboard cruise ships can be.) This news made waves among travel fans.
“Having met with guests and travel advisors while on our yachts, I know first-hand how important it is for them to feel connected to friends or colleagues back at home or the office,” noted James Rodriguez, president and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages in a statement.
Atlas Ocean Voyages, World Navigator and Traveler can provide access to world destinations.
Starlink Wi-Fi services are powered by lower earth orbit (LEO) satellites which will ensure stable connections for Atlas’ continuously moving expedition yachts. In 2022, researchers who had access to Starlink were pleased with what they experienced on McMurdo Station Antarctica; reviews for its implementation have been positive overall.
“Starlink Wi-Fi delivers global connectivity reliability – even to remoter polar regions – quickly elevating passenger experience,” explained Rodriguez.
Atlas Ocean Voyages currently owns two expedition ships and will add the 2020-built World Voyager later this year, in time for Antarctic season. Nicko Cruises of Germany currently operates it under Mystic Invest Holdings of Portugal; structurally this ship resembles World Navigator and World Traveller and should provide seamless transition into Atlas’ fleet.
