Recent Study Unveils Costliest and Most Budget-Friendly Beachfront Destinations

Many travelers don’t consider summer complete until they have enjoyed a relaxing vacation on the beach. Some places are more affordable than others.

Upgraded Points, a travel insights company, recently conducted a study of 75 popular beach towns across the U.S. to identify the best and worst places for oceanfront vacations this summer.

In 2023, the Hamptons will be the most expensive destination to visit for a beachfront holiday. Montauk is the least affordable, followed by Southampton and East Hampton in New York.

The average cost of a hotel night in Montauk is $639, while the average price for a vacation house tops out at $1,200. The average cost of a stay for a full week is $6,454. Southampton and East Hampton, however, are not far behind, with weeklong average stay costs of $6.391 and 6.998, respectively.

Malibu in California ($6,150), and Folly Beach in South Carolina ($5,943), are among the most costly U.S. beachfront destinations.

Kiawah Island, South Carolina ($5,576) is the most expensive destination for a seven-day stay at the beach. Lahaina in Hawaii ($4,946) and Laguna Beach, California (4,564) are also on the list. Key West, Florida ($4,547), Solana Beach, California, ($4,372), and Key West, Florida round out the top 10.

The least expensive oceanfront vacation spot is Cedar Key in Florida, where the average home nightly rate is $189, and the average hotel nightly rate is $191. This equates to an average weekly rate of only $1,330.

Travelers can also get great deals in Ocean Shores and Ocean Springs Washington (1,491), as well.

There are also other places that offer beachfront accommodations for less than $2,255, including Port Aransas, Texas ($2,048), Galveston, Texas, ($2,058) Ocean City, Maryland, ($2,097) Pawleys Island in South Carolina, San Juan Island Washington, ($2,191) Myrtle Beach South Carolina, ($2,240), and Bar Harbor, Maine.
